Quick answer
Docsi AI exports results as PDF, Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX), CSV and Markdown. Use PDF for reading, printing and submitting, Word for further writing, Excel for tables with charts, CSV for exchanging one sheet of data and Markdown for note apps and wikis. All exports are created locally on your computer; sources and page numbers are kept in PDF, Word and Markdown.
Key takeaways
- PDF for reading and submitting, Word for further writing, Excel for calculating.
- CSV contains exactly one sheet; Markdown is plain UTF-8 text.
- Docsi PDFs have an embedded typeface, bookmarks and page numbers.
- Excel exports contain native charts and stored results instead of formulas.
- Check title, metadata and source list before sharing.
Choose a format for the purpose
PDF is useful for a fixed view and sharing. Word is suitable for text you want to edit afterwards. Excel retains structured tables in a workbook; CSV represents one selected sheet. Markdown is useful for plain text with headings, lists and sources.
Docsi lays out new documents with a consistent design. Charts can appear as native charts in Word and Excel; this does not make an imported PDF losslessly editable.
Review before sharing
- Read the preview and check the title, structure and sources.
- Choose the format you want and save a separate file.
- Open the file in its target program. Check wide tables, characters, chart values and page breaks.
- For printing, inspect the print preview. Fonts and rendering can differ between Office programs.
Keep sources and originals
Keep inputs separate from outputs so you can revisit evidence or numbers later. Name results by topic and date. Successful saving confirms the file format, but not the accuracy of its content.
What the Docsi PDF contains
Docsi sets PDFs in A4 with his own layout engine. The Inter typeface is embedded, headings up to the third level become bookmarks, and from two pages on the footer shows “Title · n / m”. Tables get column widths based on content, numbers are right-aligned, the header repeats on every page, and very wide tables go on their own landscape pages.
Links are clickable, source markers appear small in the accent colour, and the numbered source list follows at the end. Title, language and date are stored in the file’s metadata. Characters the typeface lacks are drawn as small symbols, so the export never fails.
What the Word file contains
The Word export is a real DOCX document following the open Office Open XML standard: headings with styles, paragraphs, nested lists, tables with repeated headers, page breaks and page numbers. The Inter typeface is embedded, so the document looks the same on computers without Inter.
Because Word reflows content itself, page breaks may differ from the PDF preview; the content is the same. Use Word when others should comment or record changes. Charts are native Word charts and can be adjusted there.
What the Excel file contains
Excel exports contain real sheets with numbers, dates and text plus native charts. Every sheet prints page-wide on A4, in landscape for charts or wide tables, with a repeated header row and a footer with sheet name and page number. Docsi adds data bars only when values differ visibly.
The export reduces formulas to their stored results. That way opening the file triggers no recalculation and no external link, and the numbers stay exactly the ones you checked. If you need formulas, add them again in Excel afterwards.
Using CSV and Markdown correctly
A CSV file contains exactly one sheet as text with a fixed delimiter. It suits import into databases, statistics programs or other spreadsheets, but loses formatting, charts and further sheets. When opening it in Excel, watch the delimiter and the UTF-8 character encoding so that special characters display correctly.
Markdown is UTF-8 text with title, headings, lists, tables and sources. It can go into note apps, wikis and version control and stays readable without a special program. Docsi follows the common CommonMark syntax with GitHub-style tables.
Before sharing: metadata and accessibility
Exports carry title, language and date in their metadata. Before sending, check that the title fits and that no internal notes remain in the document. Source lists name files – name your files so you can show those names to others.
A clear heading structure and a set document language help screen readers. Docsi does not, however, claim validated accessibility according to PDF/UA. If an institution requires accessible PDFs, check the file with a dedicated tool.
Printing and sharing on screen
Docsi PDFs are set for A4 and print cleanly without adjustment. They work on screen too: bookmarks make navigation easier, links are clickable. If you want to read a document on your phone, the PDF is usually more comfortable than a Word file whose display depends on the app.
When sharing via learning platforms or email, check the file size. Docsi exports are compact because the typeface is embedded only once; large files arise almost only from high-resolution images in sources.
A worked scenario
An example: an analysis needs to become a report for the team lead and a data table for the controller. You first have Docsi create a PDF, check key figures and source list in it and, in the same conversation, ask for the same content as a Word file so the team lead can comment.
For the controller you export the result table as an Excel file with a native chart. Three formats, one content: because Docsi sets them all from the same result, the figures match everywhere. You name the files with date and recipient role and store them together with the source table.
Key terms explained
- Typesetting
- Arranging text, tables and figures on pages. Docsi sets PDFs with its own layout engine.
- Embedded font
- A typeface contained in the file so the document looks the same everywhere.
- Native charts
- Charts that Word or Excel recognise as their own objects and can edit.
- Metadata
- Information about a file such as title, language and date that is not part of the visible text.
- PDF/UA
- A standard for accessible PDFs. Docsi does not claim PDF/UA conformance.
A worked example
For a team meeting you need a readable report and a table for further work. Export the text as PDF or Word and the data table as Excel when the required columns exist in the result. Open both files in the target applications. Check page breaks, wide tables, long links and the source list. A good Docsi preview does not establish how the recipient’s application renders the file.
Adapt source and scope, then use the text in Docsi. This website starts no AI task.
Check the result
If something is wrong
| Observation | Next step |
|---|---|
| Excel is not offered | The result needs at least one table. Structure the content appropriately first. |
| Word differs from preview | Check the target application and simplify complex tables if readability suffers. |
| Sources are missing | Check the draft and its source references; exporting cannot manufacture missing evidence. |
Common questions
Why does Word look different from the PDF?
Office programs lay out pages using their own rules. Review the file in the recipient’s program if exact page breaks matter.
Can CSV contain multiple sheets?
No. CSV contains one selected sheet. Use XLSX if you want the workbook to retain multiple sheets.
Can I change the format afterwards?
Yes. Ask Docsi for another format in the same conversation; the content is output again without repeating the task.
Which format is best for a term paper?
Word for further writing, PDF for submission. Many keep writing in Word and export their own PDF at the end.
Do exports carry a watermark?
No. The footer shows “Docsi · title” and the page number; there is no watermark.
Can exports be opened in Google Docs?
Yes. Word and Excel files can be imported into Google Docs and Google Sheets; some formatting may differ.
