Subscription and trial
How does the free trial work?
Your subscription starts with a free 3-day trial; you add a payment method for it. Nothing is charged until the trial ends. Cancel before, and you pay nothing.
Do I need an account?
No. After buying you get a license key. If you buy inside Docsi, he even unlocks himself – nothing to copy.
On how many devices can I use Docsi?
Plus covers 2 computers, Pro covers 3 – Windows and Mac mixed. Manage them in Docsi under Settings → Subscription.
Can I switch between Plus and Pro?
Yes, any time under Manage subscription. Stripe prorates the change.
How do I cancel?
Any time, effective at the end of your billing month – in the customer portal under Manage subscription, or without signing in via Cancel contracts here.
How much does Docsi cost per year?
Paying monthly, €119.88 for Plus and €239.88 for Pro. There is no annual plan.
What happens after I cancel?
Docsi stays unlocked until the end of the paid period and then locks its features. Your files and saved results stay on your computer.
Docsi AI and credits
What are credits?
Every AI task uses credits: short questions a few, big documents more. Docsi always shows how many you have left, and every billing month starts full again.
What happens when my credits run out?
The built-in AI pauses until your next billing month. Everything local keeps working. You can switch to Pro at any time or connect an AI of your own in the settings.
Which AI powers Docsi?
Docsi AI uses the GLM language model by Z.ai. If you prefer, connect an AI of your own in the settings instead – with your own key, or locally through Ollama.
Do converting and merging cost credits?
No. Converting, merging and text recognition run locally and never cost credits.
Can the AI be wrong?
Yes. Language models can summarise statements incorrectly. That is why Docsi checks every source marker against the original text and removes markers without a matching passage; you should still read important statements on the page given.
Features and results
Which formats does Docsi deliver?
PDF, Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX), CSV and Markdown. Word and Excel files stay editable, and charts are real Office charts.
How large can a file be?
Up to 25 MB per file. PDFs may have up to 500 pages, Excel workbooks up to 50 sheets of 10,000 rows and 100 columns each.
Can Docsi read web pages?
Docsi does not go online by himself. You can drag a browser window onto Docsi, though; he then reads the visible content of that window as a source.
Can Docsi read scanned documents?
Yes. Docsi reads scanned PDF pages, photos and screenshots with local text recognition for printed text in German and English. It does not reliably recognise handwriting.
Can Docsi create flashcards and review questions?
Yes. Ask for flashcards or questions with answers in your request; Docsi lays them out as card pairs in the PDF and, if you like, also delivers them as a table in Word, Excel or CSV.
How does Docsi show its sources?
Statements from your files carry numbered source markers, listed with file and page at the end of the document. Docsi matches every marker against the original text and removes markers without a matching passage.
Does Docsi remember things about me?
Only what you explicitly tell him, such as your field of study or citation style. You see and delete these notes in the settings, and you can switch remembering off entirely there. Docsi does not store passwords or similar data.
Can Docsi work with several files together?
Yes. Each file becomes its own numbered source. State in your request which file plays which role, such as “lecture notes” and “exercise sheet”; the source markers then show which file a statement comes from.
Privacy
Which data leaves my computer?
Your files stay on your computer. Only when you start an AI task, the text it needs travels encrypted through our server to the AI provider. We do not store that content – only how many credits were used. See the privacy policy for details.
Does Docsi work offline?
The local tools do. Docsi checks your subscription regularly and keeps working offline for up to 5 days. The AI needs a connection.
Technical
Which systems are supported?
Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Macs with Apple silicon.
Does Docsi run on Intel Macs or Linux?
No. Docsi is available only for 64-bit Windows and for Macs with Apple silicon.
Which files can Docsi read?
PDF, Word, Excel, CSV and Markdown, as well as photos, screenshots and scanned pages.
How do I get updates?
In Docsi under Settings → Updates. Updates are signed and checked before they install.
Who makes Docsi?
Impulse Apps, a small team and startup from Hamburg, Germany. More about it, the technology and the versions is under About Docsi AI.
