# Manage credits, licence and devices

Your subscription unlocks Docsi and includes an allowance for Docsi AI. Account management and the contents of your local documents are separate areas.

## Quick answer

Docsi Plus includes 2,000 AI credits a month for 2 computers, Docsi Pro 6,000 credits for 3 computers; the trial brings 150 credits. Only the built-in Docsi AI uses credits – more or fewer depending on the amount of text. Every billing month starts again with the full allowance; unused credits do not accumulate. You manage devices in Docsi under Settings → Subscription, and Docsi works offline for up to 5 days.

## Key takeaways

- Plus includes 2,000 credits a month, Pro 6,000, the trial 150.
- Every billing month starts with a full allowance; credits do not accumulate.
- Only Docsi AI uses credits, local tools never do.
- You manage devices in Docsi under Settings → Subscription.
- Docsi keeps working offline for up to five days.

## Credits are not a fixed price per task

Plus includes 2,000 credits and two devices; Pro includes 6,000 credits and three devices. The three-day trial includes 150 credits. Usage depends on the actual AI request; extensive sources and several work steps can use more.

See your current balance in Docsi under Settings → Subscription and in the input area. Local conversion and PDF merging do not generate a Docsi AI request. New periods and plan terms are shown on the pricing page and in the customer portal.

## Unlock a computer

1. After a website purchase, find the licence key on the thank-you page.
2. Open Docsi, choose “I already have a subscription” and paste your key.
3. If the device allowance is full, remove a device you no longer use in subscription settings.
4. Keep the key private. A removed computer needs to be unlocked again.

## Manage the subscription and connection

Reach invoices, payment methods and plan changes through the customer portal. The website also provides a cancellation form. Keep the confirmation of receipt and check the actual end date.

Local tools require a valid licence. It is time-limited, so “local” does not mean unlimited use without a licence connection. If there is a connection or payment problem, review the displayed message before restarting the task.

## How the allowances work

At the start of each billing period your subscription receives the full allowance of your plan: 2,000 credits on Plus, 6,000 on Pro, 150 in the three-day trial. Used credits are counted for that period; in the next period you start full again. There is no saving up over several months.

If you switch from Plus to Pro in the middle of a period, the higher allowance applies to the running period immediately. Switching back to Plus applies the lower cap. You see the current balance in the input field and under Settings → Subscription.

## What drives usage

Credits reflect the AI’s effort: how much text it has to read, how long the result is and how many working steps are needed. A short question in the widget costs a few credits, a detailed report from long lecture notes with several reading steps considerably more. Local tools such as converting, merging and text recognition never cost credits.

You can save by narrowing sources (only the relevant chapters), asking for a short overview first and a detailed document only afterwards, and phrasing corrections in the same conversation instead of restarting the task.

## Activating and switching computers

One subscription covers Windows and Mac mixed: Plus for 2, Pro for 3 computers. When activating, Docsi creates a key of its own on each device, stored in the system keychain; requests to the Docsi server are signed with it. Your license key in the format DOCSI-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX links the device to your subscription.

If all seats are taken, remove an old device right inside Docsi under Settings → Subscription and then activate the new one. If you sell or reset a computer, remove it from the list beforehand so the seat becomes free.

## Working offline

Docsi receives a signed proof from the server that your subscription is active. It is valid for up to five days and lets you keep working without the internet – with all local tools and, if connected, with a local model. Docsi AI, by contrast, always needs a connection.

After five days without a connection at the latest, Docsi asks for a new check. As soon as you are back online, this happens automatically. Docsi detects a system clock that has been set back and does not extend the period because of it.

## Billing, switching and cancelling

Payment runs through Stripe. Stripe prorates plan changes for the running month; you download invoices as PDFs in the customer portal. You start the trial with a payment method on file, which is only charged after three days.

You can cancel at the end of any billing month in the customer portal or without signing in via “Cancel contracts here”, as § 312k of the German Civil Code requires for contracts concluded online. As a consumer you also have the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal.

## Plus or Pro for your usage pattern

Plus fits if you use Docsi a few times a week for study sheets, summaries or small analyses and work locally a lot. Pro pays off if you work through long documents with the AI every day, often combine several sources or need Docsi on three computers.

Watch your usage in the input field over the first weeks. If Plus regularly does not last until the end of the month, switching to Pro is possible at any time and takes effect immediately; conversely, you can switch back if the allowance is not used up.

## A worked scenario

An example: you use Docsi Plus and work with long lecture notes every day during exam season. After three weeks the input field shows that only a few credits are left. Local tasks such as merging your exercise sheets keep running, but you need more AI for the next study sheets.

You switch to Pro in the customer portal. Stripe prorates the difference, and the higher allowance is available in the running month right away. After the exams you switch back to Plus; from the next billing month the smaller allowance and the lower price apply again.

## Key terms explained

- **Balance**: The credits still available to you in the current billing period.
- **Billing period**: The month Stripe bills your subscription for and for which your allowance applies.
- **License key**: The key in the format DOCSI-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX that links a device to your subscription.
- **Device seat**: An activated computer. Plus has 2 seats, Pro 3.
- **Proration**: On a plan change, Stripe charges only the difference for the remaining days.

## A worked example

You are moving to another computer and want to process a long report. Check the licence, device slots and displayed credit balance first. A successful download does not prove licence activation. Docsi Plus and Pro have different allowances and device limits. The app shows the actual status. After setup, start with a small, clear task before making several extensive attempts.

Adapt source and scope, then use the text in Docsi. This website starts no AI task.

### Check the result

### If something is wrong

**Observation and next step**

| Observation | Next step |
| --- | --- |
| Licence key is rejected | Check the full key and correct product licence; do not attach keys to support email. |
| Device slots are full | Inspect the device list and remove only a device you no longer need. |
| Credits are exhausted | Check app status and plan. Local processing is not a general licence bypass. |

## Common questions

**Does one credit equal one document?**

No. A short question and a large task can use different amounts. Use the displayed credit balance as your guide.

**Can I keep my files after cancellation?**

Keep exported files in a location of your own. Whether the app remains unlocked depends on the active subscription and licence.

**Can I buy extra credits?**

There are no separate credit packs. If you need more, switch to Pro or connect your own AI.

**What happens to my devices after cancelling?**

After the paid period ends, Docsi locks its features on all devices; your files are kept.

**Do I lose credits when switching devices?**

No. The allowance belongs to the subscription, not the device, and applies on every activated computer.

**Does my own AI use Docsi credits?**

No. With your own key or a local model, the respective provider bills you; your Docsi allowance stays untouched.
