# About Docsi AI

Docsi AI is a desktop app by Impulse Apps from Hamburg, Germany. It reads your files, calculates and delivers finished PDF, Word and Excel files with sources you can check.

## What is Docsi AI?

Docsi AI is a desktop app for Windows and Mac that helps you study and work with documents. It lives as a slim bar at the top of your screen. You drop files, whole windows or copied text onto Docsi and say what you need – a study sheet, an analysis, a report or flashcards. You get back a real file: PDF, Word, Excel, CSV or Markdown, with source markers and page numbers that Docsi checks against the original text.

## Who makes Docsi AI?

Docsi is developed and published by [Impulse Apps](https://impulse-apps.de/en/), a small team and startup from Hamburg, Germany, that started in July 2024. Impulse Apps also makes PlantDoctor, Splash It, Sakenly, Sound Boost and FullPageShot; together, more than 20,000 people use Impulse Apps products. That number covers all products combined, not Docsi alone.

## How Docsi AI has grown

Since the first version, improvements ship as signed updates that Docsi checks before installing:

- **7 October 2026:** Docsi 1.0.0 is released with the subscription, Docsi AI, the website and the Mac version.
- **8 October 2026:** version 1.0.2 with widget improvements; the demo video goes on the website.
- **9 October 2026:** the Mac download becomes a signed, notarised installer (.dmg).
- **13 October 2026:** version 1.1.0 for Windows and Mac with the new Docsi character.
- **26 October 2026:** version 1.1.1 for Windows and Mac; Windows can also be installed with a verified PowerShell line.

## What Docsi AI stands for

**Local where possible.** Converting, merging PDFs and text recognition run on your computer and never cost credits. Only for AI tasks, the text that is needed travels encrypted through the Docsi server to the AI provider, without content being stored.

**Results you can check.** Statements taken from your files get source markers. Docsi removes markers that have no matching passage in the original text, and it calculates table values exactly instead of letting the AI estimate them.

**Honest limits.** Docsi reads printed text, not reliable handwriting, and does not replace expert review. The guides name such limits explicitly.
